The Rexton is the large SUV from KGM – the new name of SsangYong, the Korean 4x4 specialist since 1954. Facelifted in 2024 with a wide chrome grille, LED headlights and a new dashboard with dual 12.3-inch screens, it keeps what sets it apart: a genuine four-layer steel ladder frame, like a pick-up, on which the engine and suspension are mounted. The result: toughness and towing capacity (3.5 tonnes) that monocoque SUVs cannot match. KGM Morocco offers it as a 202 hp 2.2 e-XDi diesel with 8-speed automatic, in 4x2 (Pro, Confort, Executive) and 4x4 (Confort), from 409,900 to 509,900 MAD.

Fun & Run rents the Rexton as a 7-seat diesel automatic. It is our "full-size" SUV for families and groups who want space, safety – nine airbags, 81.7% high-strength steel – and an imposing presence on the road. Leather upholstery, comfortable seats, adaptive cruise and emergency braking: Korean luxury in the service of long Moroccan journeys.

The Rexton: where elegance meets toughness

Unlike almost every modern SUV, the Rexton keeps a body-on-frame architecture: the engine and suspension are mounted on a four-layer steel ladder frame, separate from the body, as on a pick-up. KGM sees three advantages: reinforced impact safety, better filtering of noise and vibration, and 3.5-tonne towing capacity. The body uses 81.7% high-strength steel.

The 2024 facelift modernised the styling – imposing chrome grille, slim LED headlights, wheels up to 20 inches – and above all the cabin: horizontal dashboard with dual 12.3-inch screens, leather upholstery in black, classic beige or burgundy red, heated and ventilated front seats, electric parking brake and electronic gear selector. Row 2 folds for access to row 3, which stows into the floor.

Driver aids include intelligent adaptive cruise with Stop & Go, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and trailer stability assist; nine airbags protect occupants, including a driver's knee airbag and curtains covering all three rows.

Why the Rexton for your stay in Morocco

The Rexton is the choice of groups and large families who want to travel with seven and no compromise on space or safety: seven adults fit, luggage follows in a boot reaching 640 litres with five and nearly 2,000 litres with two, and the 202 hp 2.2 diesel carries it all at 120 km/h on the A7 or A3 without ever running out of breath.

Its toughness is an asset on Moroccan roads: the ladder frame and roughly 200 mm of ground clearance shrug off graded desert tracks and broken mountain roads, and the 4x4 version (depending on unit) adds a low range for difficult sections. The 70-litre tank gives 700 to 800 km of range.

Against the Hyundai Santa Fe and Škoda Kodiaq, the Rexton is bigger, more powerful and more of an adventurer, with a daily rate often below that of same-size European 7-seat SUVs. It is the large SUV to recommend for a tour of the south, from the Kasbahs to Merzouga.

KGM Morocco offers the Rexton only as a 202 hp 2.2 e-XDi AT8: Pro 4x2 (409,900 MAD), Confort 4x2 (479,900 MAD), Confort 4x4 (509,900 MAD) and Executive 4x2 (509,900 MAD). Our fleet is a 7-seat diesel automatic.

Is KGM SsangYong?

Yes: SsangYong, Korean 4x4 maker since 1954, was acquired by KG Group in 2022 and renamed KGM (KG Mobility) in 2023. The Rexton is its flagship SUV, distributed in Morocco by KGM Mobility Morocco with a service network in the main cities.

Is the Rexton a real 4x4?

Depending on the unit: Pro, Confort 4x2 and Executive trims are rear-wheel drive; the Confort 4x4 has selectable all-wheel drive with low range and a locking differential – a real body-on-frame 4x4. State your need at booking. In all cases, serious off-roading is excluded by our terms.

What is the Rexton's consumption?

It is an SUV of over two tonnes: expect 8 to 9 L/100 km on the motorway at 120 km/h and 10 to 12 L/100 km in town. Diesel is cheaper than petrol in Morocco, and the 70-litre tank gives 700 to 800 km of range.

How much luggage with 7 aboard in the Rexton?

With all seven seats occupied, the space behind row 3 takes five to six cabin bags or two to three medium suitcases. With five aboard, the boot reaches about 640 litres for five large suitcases; rows 2 and 3 folded, nearly 2,000 litres.
