The new Kodiaq: athletic design, innovative interior

The second-generation Kodiaq stretches the silhouette to 4.76 m and lowers the drag coefficient to 0.28, a record for an SUV of this size. The front end adopts an octagonal grille, slim LED headlights (Matrix LED depending on trim) and vertical air intakes; the taut profile and 18- or 19-inch wheels give it an athletic look without ostentation.

The cabin introduces the "Smart Dials": three rotary knobs with integrated displays controlling climate, volume, drive modes or map zoom, beneath a 13-inch central touchscreen. The 10-inch Digital Cockpit, ambient lighting, tri-zone climate control and sustainable materials (recycled fabric or cognac leather upholstery) create a lounge atmosphere. Row 2 slides and reclines, row 3 stows into the floor.

The Kodiaq multiplies the Simply Clever details Škoda is known for: umbrella compartment in the driver's door, funnel built into the washer reservoir, door-edge protectors that deploy on opening, power tailgate with virtual pedal, electric child lock and a USB-C port in the interior mirror to power a dashcam.

Why the Kodiaq for your stay in Morocco

The Kodiaq is the "rational" large 7-seat SUV in our fleet: less ostentatious than the Santa Fe, but just as roomy and formidably practical. Its 150 hp 2.0 TDI uses 6 to 6.5 L/100 km on the motorway at 120 km/h, close to 900 km from 58 litres of diesel: Casablanca–Marrakech–Ouarzazate–Merzouga takes a tank and a half, with seven aboard and luggage.

In 5-seat mode, the 845-litre boot swallows five large suitcases; with 7 seats, 340 litres remain – one of the best scores in the class. Tri-zone climate control and third-row vents matter in summer, and Front Assist, Side Assist and adaptive cruise make long legs safe and relaxing.

Against the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Kodiaq is more frugal and "cleverer"; against the KGM Rexton, it is more modern, more economical and more refined, but without 4x4. It is the SUV we recommend to families who prioritise practicality and fuel budget.

How much luggage with 7 aboard in the Kodiaq?

Is the Kodiaq a 4x4?

Our Kodiaq is 4x2 (front-wheel drive) with DSG. It suits secondary roads and graded tracks; off-roading is excluded by our terms. For a 4x4 7-seater, book the KGM Rexton or the Santa Fe Ultimate.

Is the DSG gearbox pleasant?

Yes: it is a very fast, smooth 7-speed dual-clutch automatic once rolling, with a column selector and a manual mode. Paired with the TDI's 360 Nm, it keeps revs low and consumption minimal.

Is the rented Kodiaq the new 2024+ generation?
