2026 Renault Clio front view, new grille and full LED lights

Thirty-five years after the first Clio, the facelifted fifth generation remains the benchmark for "premium" city cars in Morocco: neat presentation, class-leading sound insulation, supportive seats and road holding that keeps rivals at bay. Renault Morocco offers it for 2026 in Authentic, Equilibre and esprit Alpine trims, with the 1.0 TCe 100 hp petrol paired with an X-Tronic automatic gearbox, the manual 1.5 Blue dCi 115 diesel and the E-Tech full hybrid 145 hp version.

Fun & Run runs two Clios: the "Clio Automatique", our TCe 100 X-Tronic, and the "Clio" with a manual gearbox, slightly cheaper. Both share the most upmarket cabin of our city-car range – soft-touch dashboard, vertical touchscreen, digital cluster – and a 391-litre boot that beats the Peugeot 208 or Hyundai i20. If you want a pleasant small car for a multi-day stay between Casablanca, Rabat and Marrakech, this is our comfort pick.

  • X-Tronic or manual
Continuously variable automatic on the Clio Automatique (TCe 100), manual gearbox on the standard Clio.
  • 9.3" vertical screen
Easy Link with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, customisable 7" digital cluster depending on trim.
  • 391 L boot
The most generous among versatile city cars; 1,069 L with the 1/3-2/3 bench folded.
  • Emergency braking as standard
Autonomous emergency braking, hill start assist, cruise control/limiter; rear or 360° camera depending on version.
  • 100% LED headlights
Half-diamond signature up front, full LED tail lights: a real plus on poorly lit Moroccan roads at night.
  • 5.9 L/100 km
Official combined consumption of the TCe 100 X-Tronic; 42 L tank for roughly 700 km.

The facelifted Clio: what sets it apart in 2026

The 2023 facelift gave the Clio 5 Renault's new face: a wider grille animated by a gradient of diamonds, 100% LED headlights drawing a half-diamond, a new flat logo and black lettering at the rear. The esprit Alpine version adds 17-inch "la flèche" wheels, a slate-grey F1 blade and upholstery embroidered with the French flag – a level of presentation unheard of at this price.

Inside, the Clio keeps what built its reputation: soft-touch dashboard, driver-oriented 9.3-inch vertical Easy Link touchscreen, customisable 7-inch digital cluster and seats in 72% recycled fabric. The driving position is low, compact-car style, and sound insulation is a class above the Sandero or i10.

Renault's Human First programme equips the Clio with comprehensive driver aids: autonomous emergency braking as standard, front/rear parking aids, a 360° camera reconstructed from four cameras and Easy Park Assist (hands-free parking) on the upper trims.

Why choose the Clio to discover Morocco

The Clio is the city car that travels best. On the A7 motorway to Marrakech or the A1 to Tangier it cruises at 120 km/h in unusual silence for the class, with precise steering and a suspension that smooths out expansion joints. The cruise control/limiter is standard: handy given the many fixed speed cameras on Moroccan motorways.

In town, its 4.05 m footprint and rear (or 360°) camera make parking easy in dense Casablanca districts such as Maârif or Bourgogne. The 391-litre boot takes luggage for three, and 16.5 cm of rear knee room lets adults travel comfortably.

It is the car we recommend to travellers who want real comfort without moving up to an SUV: couples on a one- to two-week stay, business travellers, or families with one or two children mixing city and motorway.

What about the new Clio 6?

In 2026 Renault Morocco opened orders for the sixth-generation Clio ("Nouvelle Clio"): sportier design, dual 10-inch openR screens with Google built-in, 1.2 TCe 115 hp automatic or E-Tech full hybrid 160 hp, from 220,000 MAD. Our fleet evolves with Renault Morocco deliveries; this page will be updated as soon as the new Clio joins our fleet.

Until then, the facelifted Clio 5 we rent remains the best-selling and most proven version in Morocco, with a Renault network present in every city of the Kingdom for assistance.

Clio engines in Morocco in 2026

Renault Morocco sells the facelifted Clio from 207,500 MAD in three trims (Authentic Plus, Equilibre, esprit Alpine). A Moroccan-market quirk: the petrol version only comes with the X-Tronic automatic, the diesel only as a manual. Here is what that means for our two rental Clios.

  • 1.0 TCe 100 X-Tronic — Version rented by Fun & Run : Petrol, X-Tronic CVT automatic, 100 hp / 160 Nm, 5.9 L/100 km. Our "Clio Automatique". The turbo three-cylinder and the X-Tronic gearbox make a very smooth pair: no torque interruption, progressive revs, ideal in Casablanca traffic and at steady motorway speeds.
  • Clio essence – boîte manuelle — Version rented by Fun & Run : Petrol, Manual, 90 to 100 hp depending on unit, ≈ 5.5 L/100 km. Our standard manual "Clio", a notch cheaper than the automatic. Same platform, same 391 L boot and same suspension comfort; the 5- or 6-speed manual is precise and the clutch light.
  • 1.5 Blue dCi 115 : Diesel, 6-speed manual, 115 hp / 260 Nm, 4.0 L/100 km. The diesel favoured by high-mileage Moroccan drivers, very frugal and torquey. Not offered for rent: for a tourist stay the petrol automatic is more pleasant and the fuel saving is marginal over a week.

FAQ

What is the difference between the "Clio" and the "Clio Automatique"?

The Clio Automatique is the 1.0 TCe 100 hp petrol with the X-Tronic (CVT) gearbox, as sold by Renault Morocco. The Clio has a manual gearbox at a slightly lower daily rate. Both are fifth-generation Clios, 5 seats, with air conditioning and unlimited mileage.

Is the X-Tronic a real automatic?

Yes. It is a continuously variable transmission (CVT): two pedals, P-R-N-D lever, no clutch to manage. It is especially smooth at low speed and has none of the jerkiness of a robotised manual. It suits drivers used to American or Japanese automatics perfectly.

How many suitcases fit in a Clio?

The 391-litre boot takes two large hold suitcases and a cabin bag, or three medium suitcases, without folding the bench. With the 1/3-2/3 bench folded, volume reaches 1,069 litres.

Is the Clio suitable for a Casablanca – Marrakech – Essaouira trip?

Absolutely: 240 km of motorway to Marrakech then 180 km of well-maintained national road to Essaouira. The TCe 100 is at ease on both, consumption sits around 6 L/100 km and the 42 L tank covers the outbound leg without a fuel stop. Only unpaved tracks should be avoided with a city car.

Will I drive the Clio 5 or the new Clio 6?

Today our fleet consists of fifth-generation Clios (including the facelifted version). The new Clio 6, launched in Morocco in 2026, will be added as the fleet is renewed; the vehicle page and this page will reflect the change. In all cases we rent a "Clio or similar" category.

What deposit for a Renault Clio?

On the Basic plan a pre-authorisation is taken on your credit card (amount shown on the vehicle page) and released on return. On the Premium plan there is no deposit and no excess. A credit card in the driver's name is required for the hold; debit cards are not accepted for the deposit.
