The Kardian is the urban SUV Renault designed for international markets and has assembled since 2024 at the Somaca plant in Casablanca. For the 2026 model year, the Moroccan range gains a new Blue dCi 102 hp diesel, a 10.1-inch openR link infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital cluster – equipment found on the Captur or Austral, in a 4.12 m vehicle sold from 177,000 MAD.
At Fun & Run, the Kardian is our entry-level diesel SUV: the 1.5 dCi 102 manual version, built for travellers who cover a lot of ground and want the high seating position and ground clearance of an SUV at close to city-car rates. With over 1,000 km of range per tank, it is the ideal car for a tour of Morocco for two or three.

The 2026 Kardian: an SUV that stands out
The Kardian inaugurates Renault's new RGMP modular platform and shows a decidedly SUV style: horizontal bonnet, unique grille framed by full LED headlights, sill protection, functional roof bars and 16-inch diamond-cut alloys. The Barents green colour shown on Renault Morocco's site gives it real personality in traffic.
The cabin is that of a modern Renault: a driver-oriented 10.1-inch openR link screen with smartphone mirroring, and a 10.25-inch digital cluster showing navigation, music and driving data. The electric parking brake, wireless charger, hands-free card and multi-sense (three driving modes, three lighting ambiences) complete equipment that is rare at this price.
On safety, the Kardian benefits from Renault's Human First programme with nine advanced driver aids: emergency brake assist, blind-spot warning, multi-view camera, adaptive cruise control and automatic high-beam switching depending on trim.
Why the diesel Kardian to discover Morocco
The Kardian is the perfect compromise between the Sandero Stepway and the Duster: more compact and cheaper than the latter, but with the same 209 mm ground clearance and a genuinely raised driving position. On the secondary roads of the Middle Atlas, the coast between Essaouira and Agadir or the Marrakech hinterland, it takes potholes and speed bumps in its stride.
Its dCi 102 diesel is its main argument for a road trip: with under 5 L/100 km and 50 litres of diesel – cheaper than petrol in Morocco – you can drive Casablanca–Marrakech–Ouarzazate–Merzouga on a single tank, and torque from low revs makes the Tichka passes easy, even when loaded.
Built in Casablanca, the Kardian is serviced in a Renault network present in every city of the country, and parts are available everywhere: peace of mind for long distances.
Kardian engines in Morocco in 2026
Renault Morocco offers the Kardian in three trims – Equilibre (177,000 MAD), Techno (193,000 MAD) and Iconic (206,000 MAD) – with two engines: the 1.0 TCe 100 petrol with X-Tronic automatic and the 1.5 dCi 102 diesel with manual gearbox. We rent the diesel.

FAQ
Is the Kardian manual or automatic?
Our Kardian is the 1.5 dCi 102 diesel with a manual gearbox, as sold by Renault Morocco (the diesel is not available as an automatic). For a small automatic SUV, book the Hyundai Creta or the automatic Dacia Duster.
What range from a tank of diesel?
With 50 litres and real-world consumption of 5 to 5.5 L/100 km on the road, expect 900 to 1,000 km. Diesel is available at every station in Morocco and costs about 15 to 20% less than petrol.
Kardian or Duster: which one?
Same ground clearance (209 mm) and same purpose, but the Kardian is 22 cm shorter, manual diesel and cheaper; the Duster is roomier (594 L boot vs 358-410 L), petrol automatic and more powerful. For two or three with reasonable luggage the Kardian is enough; for four or five with big suitcases, take the Duster.
How much luggage fits in the Kardian?
The boot offers 358 litres with the floor raised and 410 litres lowered: two large hold suitcases and two cabin bags. The 60/40 bench folds for long items, and the roof bars can take a roof box.
Can the Kardian drive on tracks?
Its 209 mm ground clearance handles graded, levelled tracks (desert hotel access, beaches, Atlas villages). It is a two-wheel-drive SUV: rock crawling, soft sand and river beds are excluded by our rental terms.
Is the rented Kardian the 2026 model?
Our Kardian fleet consists of recent units built in Casablanca, renewed with Renault Morocco deliveries. We book a "Kardian or similar" category: if unavailable, you get an SUV of equivalent or higher size.
