The Kia Sportage is the brand's best-selling compact SUV worldwide, and in Morocco it has become the benchmark for families who want comfort, technology and reasonable fuel consumption. The fifth generation, facelifted in 2025 for the 2026 model year, adopts Kia's "Opposites United" design philosophy: wider Tiger Face grille, vertical "Star Map" headlights made of three or four LED cubes, geometric rear light bar and a new bumper with diffuser.
Kia Morocco sells it with the 136 hp / 320 Nm 1.6 CRDi diesel paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, in Active, Design and GT Line trims (4x2 or 4x4), from 375,000 to 495,000 MAD. This diesel automatic configuration is what we rent at Fun & Run: the best compromise for a road trip from Casablanca to the desert with four or five people and their luggage, with over 1,000 km of range per tank.
- 4.8 L/100 km diesel
The 136 hp 1.6 CRDi offers over 1,000 km of range from the 54 L tank: a single fill-up for Casablanca–Merzouga. - 7-speed DCT gearbox
Fast, smooth dual-clutch, 320 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm for overtaking and Atlas passes. - 571 L boot
Five hold suitcases, remote-folding 40/20/40 bench, hands-free power tailgate depending on trim. - 25" dual screen
Two curved displays forming a 25-inch panel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360° camera and head-up display depending on version. - Kia Drive Wise
Pedestrian/cyclist emergency braking, Stop & Go adaptive cruise, blind-spot view monitor, rear cross-traffic alert with braking. - 4.54 m and real ground clearance
Family-size footprint, high driving position and suspension built for rough Moroccan roads.

The facelifted Sportage: an icon reinvented
The mid-life facelift profoundly changed the Sportage's face. The headlights become vertical and frame the bumper, with a full LED "Star Map" signature of three or four cubes depending on trim; the Tiger Face grille widens, the wings are redesigned and the bumper gains vertical air intakes. At the rear, the horizontal light bar gets a more geometric design and the bumper integrates a pronounced diffuser.
The cabin has been rebuilt around a 25-inch floating panoramic dual screen combining instruments and infotainment, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new steering wheel, redesigned centre console with 15 W wireless charger and customisable ambient lighting create a distinctly more premium atmosphere. Depending on trim you also get a head-up display, panoramic sunroof and hands-free power tailgate.
Kia Drive Wise active safety is among the most complete in the segment: autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection (FCA), smart adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go (SCC), blind-spot video display in the cluster (BVM) and rear cross-traffic detection with automatic braking (RCCA).
Why the Sportage is the ideal SUV to cross Morocco
Morocco is discovered over long distances: Casablanca–Marrakech (240 km), Marrakech–Ouarzazate over the Tichka pass (200 km of bends), Ouarzazate–Merzouga (360 km), Fez–Chefchaouen (200 km of mountains). On these routes the 1.6 CRDi diesel makes perfect sense: 320 Nm from low revs to pull out of hairpins, consumption around 5 L/100 km and over 1,000 km of range – you are never hunting for a fuel station in the desert.
The high driving position, careful sound insulation and Stop & Go adaptive cruise turn motorway hours into relaxation, while the 360° camera and sensors make manoeuvring easy in hotels and medina car parks. All five seats are genuinely usable by adults, and the 571-litre boot swallows the whole family's luggage without folding the bench.
Finally, Kia is firmly established in Morocco with showrooms and workshops in every major city: if you ever need it, assistance is quick, wherever you are.
Sportage or Duster, Sportage or Creta?
The Dacia Duster is more compact (4.34 m) and clearly cheaper per day; it is enough for two to four people with reasonable luggage and it has more ground clearance for tracks. The Sportage offers 20 cm more, a bigger boot, a far more economical diesel over long distances and a level of comfort and technology from another class.
Against the Hyundai Creta, its Korean cousin also in our fleet, the Sportage is bigger, more powerful and diesel, while the petrol automatic Creta is more affordable and more urban. For a trip of five with a grand tour of the country, the Sportage is our recommendation; for a coastal or urban stay of four, the Creta or Duster will do.
The Sportage in Morocco: 2026 versions and engines
In Morocco, Kia focuses the Sportage range on the 1.6 CRDi diesel with DCT gearbox, in four versions: Active (375,000 MAD), Design (425,000 MAD), GT Line 4x2 (475,000 MAD) and GT Line 4x4 (495,000 MAD). A Hybrid version is offered separately.
- 1.6 CRDi 136 DCT 4x2 — Version rented by Fun & Run : Diesel, 7-speed DCT automatic, 136 hp / 320 Nm, ≈ 4.8 L/100 km. Our fleet configuration. The diesel's generous torque and dual-clutch gearbox make the Sportage very relaxing on long legs; front-wheel drive is plenty for graded tracks in the south.
- 1.6 CRDi 136 DCT 4x4 GT Line : Diesel, 7-speed DCT automatic, 136 hp / 320 Nm, ≈ 5.3 L/100 km. The top-of-the-range all-wheel-drive version with panoramic roof and 19" wheels. Not offered for rent: our terms exclude off-road use anyway.
- Sportage Hybrid 1.6 T-GDi : Petrol hybrid, 6-speed automatic, ≈ 215-239 hp combined, ≈ 5.5 L/100 km. The more powerful petrol hybrid is sold separately by Kia Morocco. For rental, the diesel remains cheaper to run thanks to Moroccan diesel prices.

FAQ
Is the rented Sportage a 4x4?
No, our Sportage is the 4x2 (front-wheel drive) version with the DCT automatic, like the vast majority of Sportages sold in Morocco. Its ground clearance and diesel torque are enough for graded tracks to desert hotels or kasbahs; off-roading and dune driving are excluded by our rental terms.
What is the real-world range of the diesel Sportage?
With 54 litres of diesel and real-world consumption of 5.5 to 6 L/100 km on the road (a bit more in mountain passes), expect 900 to 1,000 km per tank. Diesel is available at every station in Morocco, including the south, and costs less than petrol.
How much luggage and how many passengers?
Five adults travel comfortably, and the 571-litre boot takes four to five large hold suitcases plus bags. Partially folding the 40/20/40 bench lets you carry surfboards, a pushchair or golf gear. For six or seven people, see our 7-seaters (Kia Carens, KGM Rexton).
Is the Sportage really the facelifted 2026 model?
Our Sportage fleet consists of fifth-generation units, renewed with Kia Morocco deliveries, including the facelifted version shown on this page. We book a "Sportage or similar" category: if unavailable, you get a diesel automatic SUV of equivalent or higher size.
What deposit for a Kia Sportage?
On the Basic plan a pre-authorisation proportional to the vehicle's value is taken on your credit card and released on return; the amount is shown on the vehicle page. On the Premium plan no deposit is required and the excess is waived – the plan most of our customers choose for the Sportage.
Can I do Casablanca – Marrakech – Merzouga – Fez with the Sportage?
That is exactly the kind of loop we recommend it for: about 1,800 km over eight to ten days, with the Tichka pass, the Dadès valley and the Middle Atlas. Mileage is unlimited, the diesel limits fuel stops and you can return the car in Fez or come back to Casablanca.
