The HS is MG's large SUV, and its second generation launched in 2024 moved up a size: 4.66 m long, 1.89 m wide, a 2.77 m wheelbase and taut styling with a full-width grille, slim LED headlights, rear light bar and 18- or 19-inch wheels. Euro NCAP 5 stars, Level 2 MG Pilot driver aids and a cabin dominated by two floating 12.3-inch screens: the HS plays in the European SUV league. MG Morocco offers it as a 170 hp 1.5 turbo with DCT7 dual-clutch automatic, Ultimate trim, around 270,000 MAD.

Fun & Run rents the HS as a petrol automatic. It is our large 5-seat petrol SUV: longer and roomier than a Sportage, with a 507-litre boot, a panoramic roof and a turbo engine that never runs out of breath. The new HS: what changes

The second-generation HS sits on a new platform and gains 9 cm in length (4.66 m) and 4 cm in wheelbase (2.77 m), directly benefiting the rear seats and the 507-litre boot. The styling is more European: full-width hexagonal-pattern grille, slim LED headlights, ribbed bonnet, pronounced shoulders, full-width rear light bar and wheels up to 19 inches.

The cabin takes a leap: two floating 12.3-inch screens joined in a single curved panel, flat-bottomed steering wheel, leather upholstery, power front seats, dual-zone climate control, opening panoramic roof and power tailgate. Infotainment handles navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; steering-wheel controls manage audio, calls and cruise control.

The HS earned five Euro NCAP stars in 2024 thanks to its reinforced structure and Level 2 MG Pilot: automatic emergency braking, active lane keeping, adaptive cruise with traffic jam assist, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Why the HS for your stay in Morocco

The HS is the SUV we recommend to families of four or five who want space without moving to a 7-seater: a 507-litre boot for four large suitcases, a wide bench for three adults, a panoramic roof to enjoy Atlas or coastal scenery. The 170 hp 1.5 turbo and DCT7 make overtaking safe on national roads and climbs easy, even loaded.

On the motorway, MG Pilot's adaptive cruise and active lane keeping reduce fatigue on Casablanca–Agadir or Casablanca–Tangier; real-world consumption sits around 8 L/100 km at 120 km/h, i.e. 650 km per 55-litre tank. In town, the 360° camera and sensors make parking the large body stress-free.

Against the diesel Kia Sportage, the HS is bigger, more powerful and better equipped, in petrol; against the Volkswagen T-Roc, it offers far more space for a comparable rate. It is the "great value" large SUV of our fleet.

MG Morocco offers the new HS as a 170 hp 1.5T DCT7 petrol in Ultimate trim (around 270,000 MAD) and, as the HS Hybrid+, in hybrid form. Our fleet is turbo petrol automatic.

FAQ

Is the MG HS a 7-seater?

No, the HS is a large 5-seat SUV with a 507-litre boot. For seven passengers, book the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Carens, 7-seat Citroën C3 Aircross or Dacia Jogger.

Is the HS a 4x4?

No, our HS is front-wheel drive. Its ground clearance suits secondary roads and graded tracks; off-roading is excluded by our terms. For tracks, prefer the Dacia Duster.

What is the real-world consumption?

Expect 7.5 to 8.5 L/100 km on the motorway at 120 km/h and 9 to 10 L/100 km in town for the 170 hp 1.5 turbo. The 55 L tank gives about 600 to 700 km. In Eco mode the DCT7 favours tall gears.

Is the rented HS the new 2024+ generation?

Our HS fleet consists of the second generation shown here, as a 170 hp 1.5T automatic, renewed with MG Morocco deliveries. We book an "HS or similar" category: if unavailable, you get an automatic SUV of equivalent size.

MG HS or Kia Sportage?

The Sportage is diesel (136 hp), very frugal and available as a 4x4; the HS is turbo petrol (170 hp), bigger, more powerful and better equipped (dual 12.3" screens, panoramic roof, MG Pilot). For very long distances on diesel, Sportage; for space, technology and performance, HS.
